Markham, Ontario, Canada & Camarillo, California, USA – June 23, 2025 – Enghouse Transportation & Public Safety, a leader in transportation and public safety solutions, in collaboration with and supported by CAL-ITP is proud to announce our first Open Loop Payment (OLP) solution at Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC). With this implementation, VCTC now offers expanded payment choice on its Intercity bus network. Travel by transit in the region with cloud-to-device architecture provides a fast, seamless, convenient experience with real-time fare processing by debit and credit cards.
This deployment marks a significant milestone in Enghouse Transportation’s efforts to modernize fare collection systems across North America. This achievement not only showcases our technological capabilities but also demonstrates our deep commitment to enhancing the rider experience through innovative transit solutions.
Looking ahead, we are excited by the expansion of the rollout of this platform to adjacent Ventura County agencies. This expansion will feature a comprehensive inter-regional fare capping program, a forward-thinking solution designed to promote equitable fare structures and seamless travel across agency boundaries. As our flagship implementation, this initiative will set a new benchmark for regional fare integration and underscores our leadership in shaping the future of public transportation.
Toofan Otaredian, Vice President of Sales expressed his enthusiasm about the launch, stating: “We are proud to partner with VCTC to deploy this next-generation fare payment solution. This deployment not only elevates the customer and employee experiences but also supports VCTC’s revenue assurance objectives while laying the foundation for introduction of inter-regional appealing discount plans encouraging higher ridership.”
Martin Erickson, VCTC Executive Director, said: “At VCTC, we are continuously focused on reducing barriers to using public transit. Through our partnerships with CAL-ITP, Enghouse Transportation and everyone involved in this project, riders in Ventura County now can simply tap their card and go.”
